Scuba Diving in Mallorca

There is scuba diving all around the island of Mallorca, and a steady increase of marine reserves make sure that the amount of sea life is steadily growing after decades or centuries of overfishing. Apart from the growing number of fish and other marine life, scuba diving in Mallorca offers excellent cave dives, spectacular wall dives, nice reefs and in general stunning underwater topography well worth seeing. There are not many wrecks to dive for around Mallorca as the Spanish government currently is very restrictive to ship wrecks, due to environmental reasons. However, as marine protection is increasing, so is the perception of ship wrecks as beneficial to sea life. There are a few projects involving the sinking of large wrecks, which will provide some excellent new dive sites for the thriving marine life that usually follows in the aftermath of a wreck settling.

The sea temperatures around Mallorca vary from around 26°C (79°F) in August to 13°C (55°F) in January, which means that 3 mm full length wetsuit will be a comfortable option in the summer months; a semidry suit for the months in between peak season and winter. From November to April, many would choose a dry suit. Our centers carry full rental equipment for all seasons to make your dive as comfortable as possible. The visibility on dives can vary quite a bit in winter with the weather, but is usually around 30-40 meters in the summer months.

At Mallorcadiving.com we give you the choice to dive anywhere you would like on the island of Mallorca through one of our centers, and witness the variety of the different parts of the Mallorcan underwater world through one package; our all-island Dive Card.

From our centers you can access the steep walls in on the northern coast of our island, the marine park off Cala Ratjada, schooling Barracudas off the southern shore, cave dives outside Porto Cristo, a dormant octopus in the waters outside Porto Colom or wreck diving in Palma Bay; or join us for a further excursion to the marine reserve around the island of Cabrera. See the dive site section under each center for further information on each individual dive site we offer.

We may not have the plethora of the Red Sea or the Great Barrier Reef, but we have plenty to see and an amazing underwater topography. Please take a look at our photo gallery on Facebook to see what you can expect from the different dive sites, an you will see what we mean.
